I don’t post a lot mainly cause everything I want to say been said 100 times before, this post will be no exceptions, but I still want to share it. And its called a whine cause that was people will say it is, and if they think so fine by me
Small introduction
I been playing for a long time now fist started playing 21 augustus 2003 on Ahazi and later came to infinity when it was launched. In my SWG career I been every profession that seemed fun from rifleman to Image Designer to Tkm and each of these had its charm not for a moment did I ever wanted to be a Jedi until one day I was saw two Jedi Knights hunting together and its looked fun and so, I probably made the worst mistake of my career after 2 years I decided to use my saved up XP and become a Jedi, this was in the CU so I had been to the village for the added ranged and melee defence tree’s (who didn’t ?) I trained my other 4 tree’s and waited for the “old man”
Well before 2 long I wasa Padawan. And guess what after all the profession I had done and liked I simply loved beinga Jedi, couldn’t kill aNuna if I wanted to but it felt special. And since I found simple grinding a terrible drag I did what I always done hang around with friends doing a quest here and hunting there killing NS or what ever we felt like to do.
And before long I started making progress in the tree’s. the months in witch I was a Jedi are one of the most fond memories I have about SWG.
The bat that hit us all.
So there I was a couple of days before I would finish the template I finally decided on, walking around in Amber doing nothing very interested (not much changed there) when I BH landed and started shooting at me, fight lasted about 25 minutes,(seems like for ever compared to now but it was exciting that’s for sure) eventually I lost the fight (yes Jedi were the over powerful Alpha class they needed balancing for sure /sarcasm off) as after loosing the fight I lost the XP I gathered so far, a well comes with the trade.
Then the NGE came, well we all know it was kind of sudden :P.
Talk about your dark ages, people upset and leaving, whole professions (and thus lifestyles) just gone, combat fundamentally changed, animations were gone.
I didn’t play a lot during that time, I thought my world ended, a lot of people left, some stayed eventually new ones arrived., the world didn’t end it just went through a ice age.
I decidedto stay and move on its was still SWG the change was made and there was nothing I could do about it but adapt.
I tried to be the optimistic voice hoping for the best, and I was still a little special I was a elder Jedi for some reason I was faster then the new Jedi and hada cool robe and powerful crystal, so SOE didn’t forget about the effort i put in my character.
At first I hated the new Jedi, just selecting the profession I earned although I knew I couldn’t really blame them, they were my target of choice. Eventually I stopped caring pretty much the same as SOE stopped caring about its Elder Jedi.
As the Expertises for all professions are coming to a end the Elder Jedi are finally coming to a end, what started with our profession and animations will end with the cloak and crystal.
The Re for traders is something I applaud its something for a group of players that been ignored for so long, if it’s the answer I doubt it, but never the less is has impact on me, with tailors RE the Elder robe will eventually become Obsolete by Re’d clothing that might have less protection but will have stats that compensate for it.
The crystals GCW generals gethas more Elemental DMG then the Elder crystal.
So from chapter 5 the elder Jedi is no more. And that is a shame cause it always made me feel a little special.
But not any more, I still feel special though cause of the kindness and love the people in this game have given me over the last 3 year. :D/ hugs
awwww, yes we all feel like this I think at times. But we have alts and we can have lots of fun with em :) My Jedi now is more of a figure head, a reminder of differant times. But just think Alas, u dont need to wear the granny cloak anymore :) you can become stylish once more :)
You can wear the re'd clothing under your elder robes so you'll still have that (small) advantage over nooby respec Jedis like me lol, although you can't wear a backpack so that's 4 ca slots less than a normal jedi :(
As you all know i was a long time a "clicky-Jedi". Some of this you hated. For sure, you and all other Elder Jedis had spent much time and energy of beeing a Jedi Pre-Nge. But in my view its more than ok that an Elder Jedi isnt anymore something special and that only the Elder Robe and the title remembers on "better" times. But you had, as you said, Pre-Nge a Alpha Class. Thats a Experiance a new player never get. You had this feeling of beeing something Special. The "new" Jedis are just a Proffession. But its the wrong way if an Elder Jedi is something Special for the end of his Playtime or whatever. The New Players should have the chance to be equivalent to An elder or do you think thats wrong?
Just Remember you had better times. You where allowed to play and Alpha Class and to be not only one like all others too. I think That should be reward enough and its a big think a new-player or me too never can get!
u are right. i do think every player should have the same change at all aspects of the game. So that everyone should be a jedi if they wanted to. and i do not think less of any "clicky jedi" but then everyone had the change to be a jedi since Jedi was in the game it just took a load of work that not everyone was prepared to do and thats the part that made it special as for jedi being a ALPHA class that was pre-pu 9 (aaa long time ago) after this publish a prepared BH could beat a Jedi or a decent TKM\Melee proffession combination would beat a jedi simply because jedi had his/her force bar to keep up as well. So IMO we were never the Alpha Class we just had Skills that were special, and cause they were special we also got hunted and if killed had xp penenly's
it was a challange to be a jedi (sorta).
So no i don't think the new jedi should be weaker then the elder ones.
But i do think its reward enough to just remember what we once had. but that is all we ever will get.
Its all abotu risk vs reward. 'old' Jedi had xp loss on death, sabre tef, visibility etc. etc. New jedi has.. none of this.
Jedi should be removed form the game as a playable prffession, and tbh, it should never have been made a playable prof in the 1st place.
I dont hate respec Jedi, 1 click Jedi or whatever, I just dislike leet kiddies. Unfortuantely, until commando became the new flavour of the month, leet kiddies all played Jedi.
