Hmm i dont think giving players reward points and badges for demolishing houses is a good idea That always leads to overdoing I better ask my bro for the log in details to check on his houses then (and maybe i can even get a picture hehe)
The cantina will go when this happens, and Clopaga's other cantina out by the bunkers will probbaly go too.. unlerss she has station access or something. I will empty the cantin over ther next few weeks and get ready to place a new one.. or at least we can use the space for someone else to place one :D
took a small tour of amber :D cause it shows the Abandond tags already
and besides the cantina and the obvious very old buildings (theater i hope) i expected alot more of those tags, devons and isharra's aren't even taged (yet)
Q: When will there be a housing purge? A: The housing purge/pack-up will begin with Chapter 6, but will only become highly visible a month later. (Source: SWG-Swede, Chapter 6 Outline Discussion).Structures that have been abandoned are already flagged on the live servers. After June 5, 2007 players will be able to start tagging these structures for pack-up. For more details, you can reference the statement made on the main website.
Q: What structures will be affected? A: All structures, not just houses, belonging to accounts that have been cancelled for 1+ years will be flagged as abandoned. (Source: SWG-Swede, Chapter 6 Outline Discussion; DeadMeat, Producer Note April 10th)
Q: Will structures belonging to transferred or deleted characters also be flagged as abandoned? A: For transferred characters, if the owner is still paying for the account the house will not be flagged even though they are playing on a different server. (Source: SWG-Swede) No additional information is available for deleted character housing.
Q: How long will the structure remain after it has been flagged as abandoned? A: The owner has until June 4, 2007 to pay on the account that owns the structure to prevent its removal. After June 5, 2007, players will be able to tag a flagged structure for immediate pack-up. A rewards system is in place to encourage players to tag abandoned structures. (Source: SWG-Swede, Chapter 6 Outline Discussion; Galactic News)
Q: Will players be able to interact or trigger a flagged structure for removal as was hinted at previously? A: Yes. Starting on June 5, 2007 players will be able to tag abandoned structures for immediate pack-up. For every abandoned structure they tag, players will be rewarded with 1 point. Reward points will be redeemable at the Lucky Despot in Mos Eisley for in-game items that can be used to decorate their own structures.Badges will also be available for players who tag abandoned structures. After 10 structures destroyed, a player will be granted the badge of "Junior Wrecking Crew Worker". After destroying 100 structures, players will be granted the "Wrecking Crew Manager Extrordinaire" badge.(Source: Galactic News)
Q: Can any player tag a structure for packup or is it limited to members of a particular Player City? A: Any player will be able to tag an abandoned structure for packup. The "citizens" referred to on the main website is "citizens of the Empire"...which is what every player is.
Q: Is there a limit to how many abandoned structures a player can tag in one day? A: Yes. The limit is 10 structures in a 24 hour period. This limit is subject to change. (Source: SWG-Swede)
Q: Can players group up and share credit for tagging a structure for packup? A: No. Only the player that uses the house sign to pack it up will get credit for the structure removal. (Source: SWG-Swede)
Q: What in-game item rewards will be available to players that flag abandoned structures and remove them? A: Items available are: an Imperial Painting (Birth of a Death Star), a Rebel Painting (The War Phoenix), an INS-444 Holo-Pet Droid, a CLE-004 Holo-Pet Droid, Xeno Couch, Xeno Recliner, Xeno Table, Xeno Desk, Xeno Desk Lamp, or Xeno Rug. Zanavi has posted pictures of these items (with the exception of the holopets) here.
Q: Will the reward items be tradeable or will they be flagged as No Trade items? A: Unknown at this time.
Q: Will the owners of these structures be notified in advance? A: E-Mails will be sent out to notify players in case someone wants to come and save their structures/cities. (Source: Blixtev, Proposal for Auto-Pack of Inactive Structures) An announcement has already been made on the SWG website in the Galactic News section.
Q: Will admins/Mayors/other players be able to tell what structures are flagged for removal? A: You can see on the house sign that a house is flagged as abandoned so you have until June 5 to do something about it. People on the admin list should also have been notified that a structure is flagged. (Source: SWG-Swede, Chapter 6 Outline Discussion; DeadMeat, Producer Note April 10th)
Q: Will Mayors receive a specific notice about flagged structures in their city? A: Unknown. Mayors can manually check houses in their city, though, since it will be visible on the structure sign that the structure is flagged for removal.
Q: Can admins do anything to prevent the destruction of a flagged structure? A: Only the owner will be able to prevent structure removal. Admins will be notified that a structure is flagged, though. (Source: DeadMeat, Producer Note April 10th)
Q: I'm on the admin list for a structure and use it regularly. Will it be flagged for removal since I'm actually using the structure? A: A structure is flagged based on the owner's account, not on use by admins or other players. If the owner's account has been inactive for 1+ years the structure will be flagged for removal. (Source: SWG-Swede, Chapter 6 Outline Discussion)
Q: What if an owner has Station Access but has not logged into Star Wars Galaxies for a year? A: Accounts on Station Access should not have their structures flagged as inactive, even if the owner has not logged in, since the account is being paid for. (Source: SWG-Swede, Chapter 6 Outline Discussion)
Q: What will happen to a structure and it's contents after it has been removed? A: After a structure has been flagged and the flag has been activated by a player, the structure will be packed up to the owner's datapad.
Q: Since PA Halls, Cantinas, Med Centers, Theaters, and Merchant Tents cannot currently be packed up, will they be flagged for removal? A: There have been no structures singled out as not being included in the housing purge. All player-owned structures will be eligible for the purge. (Source: DeadMeat, Producer Note April 10th)All PA Halls, Cantinas, Med Centers, Theaters, and Merchant Tents now have a pack-up feature as well.
Q: What will happen to vendors inside of a structure that is flagged for removal? A: Any vendors will be packed up with the structure. Players also now have the option to pack-up vendors they own, so if your vendor is located inside of a structure that is flagged as abandoned you should remove the vendor before June 5th to ensure the safety and accessibility of your vendor.
Q: What happens to items on vendors that are packed up with the structure? Do the timers still run on them (which would result in vendor/item deletion after a time) or does the vendor get "frozen" for maintenance and auction timers? A: Unknown at this time. SWG-Swede is checking into it, however.
Q: Will admins be allowed to take ownership of a structure if it is flagged for removal? A: CSRs are not allowed to transfer ownership of structures to admins or other players. Only the owner of the structure can transfer ownership to another player.
Q: Will all flagged structures be removed at one time or will it depend on action from a player? A: While all structures have been flagged at the same time, the actual pack-up requires player interaction. Once a player tags an abandoned structure after June 5, the structure will be immediately packed up to the owner's datapad. (Source: SWG-Swede, Chapter 6 Outline Discussion, Galactic News)
Q: Will the flagging of structures be an on-going process or a one-time deal? A: It will be a one-time process that will be repeated as necessary. (Source: SWG-Swede)
Q: How will Player City buildings be affected by the housing purge? A: Civic structures (City Hall, Clone Centers, etc.) are tied to the Player City and not an individual player. If the city loses the required rank those structures are destroyed, but they are not directly part of the housing purge system.
Q: How will purged housing affect the citizenship of Player Cities? A: Structures that are located inside of a Player City where the owner has declared residence will remove the owner from the citizenship list if the structure is removed.
Q: Will drops in Player City population immediately affect city ranking or will there be a freeze on city rankings? A: No indications have been given that would suggest a freeze on city advancement/demotion post-purge. The Player City system currently allows a city until their next update to gain the required number of citizens for their current rank should they fall below that required number. If a Player City does not have the required number of citizens for their current rank at the time of their city update, the city will be demoted to the rank they do qualify for; any rank-dependent civic structures that the city no longer qualifies for will be destroyed. If a city falls below the 5 citizens needed for an Outpost, the city is destroyed along with the City Hall and any civic structures. For more information on city rankings and the processes behind them, please see the Guide to Player Cities and the Politician and Player City FAQ.
Q: What happens to player-owned commercial structures (Cantinas, Med Centers, Theaters) that depend on city rank in order to be placed if the city falls below the required level? A: Player-owned structures, once placed, will remain even if the city no longer exists. The rank requirement is only for placement, not for continued existence.
Q: Will trial account structures remain unflagged for a year or will they be flagged sooner? A: Currently trial accounts are treated in the same manner as regular accounts.
Q: Are any incentives being given to cancelled account owners to resubscribe? A: Yes. If an account has been inactive since April 17, 2006 and the account was left in good standing, the account has been reactivated with a 14 consecutive day free access period. The free access is available to be redeemed between April 17, 2007 and May 17, 2007. Accounts that have been reactivated prior to May 31, 2007 at 11:59PM PDT will receive an in-game painting featuring Obi-Wan Kenobi (one per account) as a welcome back gift for reactivating the account. Only accounts that are reactivated by paying a subscription will receive the painting.
Q: Will the incentive painting be a tradeable item or will it be flagged as No Trade? A: Unknown at this time.
Q: Since cancelled players are being given a 14-day free trial to come back, how will this affect their structures?
A: The only way those players can prevent the pack-up/flagging of their structure is to pay for the account. Simply using the trial will not un-flag their structures. If they choose to resubscribe their structures will no longer be flagged as abandoned; should they cancel again the timer will be reset. (Source: DeadMeat)
becasue of the fuss about only returning players getting the Obi-wan painting...
Deadmeat wrote...
So in the interest of keeping the peace, and to ensure that the community's focus is on the coolness of the purge event and the upcoming release of Chapter 6, we have decided to go ahead and grant all players the "Redemption" painting. Rest assured that our primary goal was and is to get as many people to play Star Wars Galaxies as possible and we feel that this event is a great step in that direction by appealing to those folks that have already made a large investment in the game in the past. We will continue to look for ways to appeal to former players to come back and rediscover the game with all of the cool new features we have added over the last year, but we certainly have no desire to alienate any of the current users that have been so loyal to the game.
It will take a little time to add the grant of the painting gift to the product, but I wanted to let folks know now that this would be happening. Undoubtedly there will be many people that will disagree with this decision as well, and I am prepared to take the heat for this choice. I am very pleased with where the community is at this time and I want to keep that momentum going, so we will always be open to reevaluating our choices and will not be afraid to change our plans.
house purge can be done by anyone.. so if we dont do it then someone else will.
I need to empty the cantina and check that all my houses are ok, but I think ti should be ok. I dont think theres that many places in AR that will go? Or was I just being blind? Theres a limit of 10 houses per day per player I think too.. but I feel the most early damage will take place in the shanty towns around coro etc.
