Skillful entertainers in Star Wars Galaxies can coax a melody from a wide variety of musical instruments. Take a look at this collection of instruments from across the galaxy, and take a moment to appreciate their musical nuances during your next visit to the cantina.

Music for Budding Performers

Musicians learning their way around an instrument begin with a selection of wind instruments.

slitherhorn.jpg

Novice entertainers get started with a slitherhorn, a long instrument with a distinct tone. The light and airy melodies created by this simple instrument are sure to get any listener's foot tapping. Beginning musicians often pick this as their instrument of choice.

Droopy McCool of the Max Rebo band is a master of the horns, and the slitherhorn is one of his favorite instruments for his regular gig at Jabba's Palace.

fizzz.jpg

The fizzz, an uncomplicated wooden wind instrument similar to the slitherhorn, is also called the Dorenian Beshniquel. With a deeper tone than the slitherhorn, musicians looking to add some warmth to their music will enjoy the sounds of the fizzz.

The Bith musician Doikk Na'ts of the galaxy-famous Modal Nodes band is a master of the fizzz.

fanfar.jpg

The velvety, mellow sounds of the fanfar are a favorite of cantina patrons across the galaxy. A long reed instrument similar to the slitherhorn and fizzz, the fanfar is another great instrument for the budding musician, who can begin to play it at level 7. The slots lining the top of the fanfar are known as farra slots.

Ickabel of the Modal Nodes is known for playing the fanfar.

kloo_horn.jpg

The kloo horn is a double-reeded instrument that musicians can play when they reach level 14. This instrument, larger than the slitherhorn, has a distinctive curve in the reed and produces a richer sound than the slitherhorn and fizzz.

Figrin D'an is widely regarded as one of the best kloo horn players in the galaxy, and can usually be found in the Mos Eisley cantina with his band, the Modal Nodes.

traz.jpg

The metallic traz is picked up by capable entertainers at level 26. The deep sounds produced by this reed instrument charm listeners in cantinas and theaters on every planet. Musicians who love the sweet sound of the slitherhorn often enjoy the similar tones produced by the traz.

Intermediate Instruments

Once a musician begins to mature, the entertainer gradually adds other instruments to their repertoire.

mandoviol.jpg

The mandoviol is a stringed instrument that dexterous musicians strum to produce a variety of sounds. Melodies reverberate across the cantina as the rockin' mandoviol belts out a tune. Musicians gain the skill to play this instrument at level 38.

bandfill.jpg

The bandfill is a complex instrument that cannot be placed in a single category. Part percussion and part horn, gifted entertainers learn the ins and outs of this instrument at level 50. The horn bells and beats of the bandfill are a welcome addition to any ensemble.

Nalan Cheel of the Modal Nodes plays the bandfill with flair.

chidinkalu.jpg

The chidinkalu horn is the longest wind instrument at the entertainer's disposal and produces the richest sound. Entertainers begin honing their skills with this instrument at level 62. The harmonious melody of this instrument rounds out the horn section of any band.

Melody Masters

High level entertainers tackle three challenging instruments on their path to become true masters of music.

ommni.jpgOnly a talented entertainer that has reached level 74 can sit in front of this complex instrument and deftly use the pedals to create just the right sound.

A reception dish on the ommni box enhances surrounding melodies in the mix, creating a unique harmony pleasing to the listener's ear.

Tech M'or of the Modal Nodes is a galaxy-famous ommni box player.

nalargon.jpgThe nalargon is a large instrument that puts the entire body of the entertainer to the test. Adeptly juggling the keyboard of the nalargon is a true test of the expert entertainer's skills. This instrument produces an assortment of sounds and always draws a crowd eager to see a good show.

Max Rebo can often be found behind the keys of his nalargon in Jabba's Palace.

xantha.jpgA difficult instrument that only true masters of music can play, the xantha is a combination of a wind instrument and a guitar that generates a variety of sounds.

It takes the concentration and effort of a true music master to pluck the strings at the base while using the mouthpiece in harmony.
