This week we thought we would share a list of "slash commands" that many may already know but had not used in some time. Star Wars Galaxies has a vast number of commands that you can type in right from your chat window. We won't add the entire wall of text here but we will go over some of the commands that are found to be most helpful. We hope that you find this information useful and that it increases your overall enjoyment while playing Star Wars Galaxies.
Basic Commands
Here is a list of basic commands frequently used in game. You can bring up a complete list of special commands in game by typing "//". Note that many commands need a target.
/addpower
Adds power to selected structure.
/afk
Sets your character to "Away From Keyboard" so others know you are not currently available.
/afkmessage
Displays (or changes if you add text after) the messages that will appear to others when you are in the AFK state.
/afktime
Displays (or changes if you add a number after) how long before you automatically go to AFK state when not interacting with game.
/anon
Sets your character to anonymous for the purpose of searches.
/bandflourish
Synchronizes flourishes of everyone in the group (however, this does not grant the XP of normal flourishes).
/bandleader
Transfers Band Leader status to indicated character.r
/covercharge <amount>
Sets the amount that you want to charge patrons for inspirations. Set the amount to 0 to stop charging a cover fee.
/consider (/con)
Displays the difficulty rating of a targeted creature or NPC compared to your skill with your currently equipped weapon.
/emote
Displays whatever text you follow it with as an action of your character. For example, if your name is Laine and you type "/emote loves Tatooine," then "Laine loves Tatooine" will be seen by everyone in your area.
/find
Brings up list of commonly searched for locations. Selecting a location will create a waypoint to the nearest one of that type and will produce a lighted path leading you to it. To remove the waypoint you created, type /find clear.
/flourish <#>
Plays indicated musical or dance flourish.
/flushGraphicsResources /fullReset
"Flushes" graphics.
/follow
Auto-follows your target; use /stopfollow to cease following.
/forage
Searches the area for anything useful.
/gallop
Urge your mount go faster for a short time.
/guild
Sends the message typed after the command to your guild channel.
/guildremove
Removes target or self from your current guild.
/helper
Sets your character to "Newbie Helper."
/inspire <name>
Entertainer command used to build a buff for the named player.
/kneel
Changes stance to kneeling.
/lfg
Sets your character to "looking for group" for purpose of searches.
/listen
You actively listen to the targeted musician.
/logout
Logs your character off the server; you should be in a city, house or campsite for a safe logout, otherwise your character will be at the mercy of the world for 3 additional minutes.
/loot
Loots targeted corpse.
/mailsave
Saves your game mail on your computer.
/mood none
Returns your default mood to neutral.
/moods
Displays list of moods.
/notepad
Allows modifications to a text file that gets saved as "notes.txt" in your base profile directory.
/prone
Changes stance to prone.
/retell (/rt)
Sends tell to the last person you sent a tell to.
/reply (/r)
Sends a tell to the last person to send a tell to you.
/roleplay
Sets your character to "Role Player."
/sample
Used by Traders to take a resource sample after surveying.
/say
Puts your message in a chat bubble and in the main chat window.
/showbackpack
Toggles the visiblity of the equipped backpack; does not remove the item's stats.
/showhelmet
Toggles the visibility of the equipped headwear; does not remove the item's stats.
/showinstance
Shows information about current instance lockout timers .
/sing
Chat bubble that is unique to Entertainers.
/stand
Changes stance to standing.
/startdance <dance>
Begins the dance style that you specify.
/stopfollow
Ends autofollow command.
/stoplistening
Stops actively listening to a musician.
/stopwatching
Stops actively watching a dancer.
/startmusic <music>
Skill and instrument required - begins playing song that you specify.
/survey
Used by Traders to survey for resources.
/tell (/t)
Sends an instant message to the character indicated; you can send the message to multiple people by separating their names with a comma.
/tellpet
Sends a command privately to your pet.
/tip <name> <amount>
Automatically transfers a specified number of credits to your target; you can also use /tip <name> <amount> bank to send money directly to their bank, but there is a 5% transfer fee to do this.
/ui hudreset
Resets the windows and toolbar.
/unconsent
Keeps the target character from moving your corpse if you have already given him permission with /consent.
/consent
Allows the target character to move your corpse
/watch
Actively watches targeted dancer.
Grouping Commands
Group management can be performed from anywhere in the galaxy.
/invite <name>
Invite the named or targeted player to a group (only group leaders can invite additional people into an existing group).
/uninvite <name>
Cancel the group invitation to the named or targeted player.
/join
Joins group or band if you have been invited.
/makeLeader <name>
Group leader only - transfers leadership to named or targeted group member.
/makeMasterLooter <name>
Make the named or targeted player the master looter for the group.
/groupchat
Sends message to group channel.
/dismissGroupMember <name>
Dismiss the named or targeted player from the group.
/disband <target>
Group leader only - disbands current target, or entire group if no target is named.
You cannot /invite while you are in combat or the invitee is in combat. You cannot /join while you are in combat or the inviter/group leader is in combat. Stealthed characters can use /invite and /uninvite.
Pet Commands
You can use the following shortcuts with your Pets.
/pet attack
Commands your pet to attack the target.
/pet embolden
Causes your pets to become bolder, at some cost to you.
/pet enrage
This command causes all of your pets to become berserk, causing more damage, but taking more time.
/pet follow
Commands the pet to follow you or a target.
/pet formation
Forms your pets into a battle formation.
/pet friend
Causes your pet to make friends with a target.
/pet group
Enables you to add the pet to your group.
/pet guard
Commands your pet to guard a specific spot.
/pet patrol
Commands your pet to guard a small area.
/pet stay
Commands your pet to sit in one spot.
/pet store
This command stores the pet back into your pet control device.
/pet trick1
Commands your pet to do a trick. Tricks heal pet mind damage.
/pet trick2
Commands your pet to do a trick. Tricks heal pet mind damage.
Other Commands
The following shortcuts are also found to be helpful.
/waypoint
By typing /waypoint and the coordinates, you will create a waypoint in your datapad at your target location or at your present location if nothing is entered. Note: targeting something and typing /waypoint does not function.
/findfriend <name>
Locates your friend by name and creates an active waypoint for them.
/earth
Displays the earth (real) time.
/quit
Exit the game immediately. Your character will remain vulnerable to attack for three more minutes.
/logout
Logs your character off the server. You should be in a house or other private structure for a safe logout, otherwise your character will be at the mercy of the world for 3 additional minutes.
/getvet
Displays how long you have played the game in days; your veteran time.
/claimvet
Allows the player to claim any unclaimed veteran rewards.
/locateStructure
Locates all of your structure locations. Housing, factories, harvesters and city structures. A list will be displayed in the System Message chat. You can only use this command once every 24 hours.
/fish
Start Fishing.
/setpermission
Sets which players are allowed to move and pick-up items within a structure, as well as the ability to destroy that structure. You must be in or near your building or installation to do this.
/setprivacy
Sets your structure to private or public. You must be in a building to use this.
/unstick
If you are stuck in a building or other feature of the landscape, this should unstick you. You cannot be moving in order for the command to work.
/rename
Allows you to rename your character. A character must be at least 90 days old before he/she can be renamed. There is a 90 days wait before the character can be renamed again. Run the /rename command and follow the on screen instructions.

For a complete list, turn logging on with /log, type // to get the list, and then turn logging off again with /log. The commands will be in your logged text file. You can find the text file in the profiles folder in your Star Wars Galaxies directory.
If you type "/a<TAB>" your screen will display all commands that start with a," /wh<TAB>" will display all commands that start with "wh, and /<TAB>" will display all commands.
