Bounty Hunter ...guides and help.

I have recently come back to this game and had a bit of a steep learning curve with attachments, expertise of a BH, weapons etc so here is some of the resources I have used to try and build my character so that I can get more successful kills.

This is an excellent post by someone who not only advises on how to build up your BH and why, but also a few tactics on dealing with each combat class.

The below URL is a guide on your expertise setup ideal for use with any of the BH heoric jewellry sets

Bounty Check is a question often asked...
here is a guide..

All you need to do is for any combat NPC above 80 I think, you can bounty check them, whether they are red or yellow it will work. Most of the time no bounty will be revealed but if it does you can kill the NPC and add to the collection. Once the collection is complete you get a weapon schematic. The character that is generated from a bounty check is random and you may get the same one again and again over time. Each successful bounty check has a 30 min cooldown.

What I have learnt - Heat elemental cuts through the BH shield like a knife through butter so I would recommend getting two weapons, one with heat, one with acid. Acid increase crit chance and DPS and crit are your friends. Acid weapon to be used most of the time. against other BH or peeps with IG-88 heads that pop up shields switch to heat weapon.

Luck is the statistic of the BH, luck and Pre. Stack these up and for a third that's up to you. If you type in 'SWG Luck Wiki' or 'SWG Agility Wiki' etc, into google you will find the page that explains the stat and what benefits they give you. I picked a mix of agility and stamina to use for the attachments with 10 pieces with luck and 11 Pre.

Spy hunting is enjoyable if you have patience. The best thing to do is to have them attack you. Bring up the shields asap to prevent them applying DOT's or use Shard of the Serpent if you have it for 50% dot damage resist. Trap them if possible and use cripple and dread asap. Optical binoculars can be purchased from faction vendor to use with detect camoflauge.  Traps can be used to bring a spy out of camo, so I use low level traps top do this to save action. In a fight people tend to run so one on one it is very hard to trap someone when in flight, so no point wasting action on the off chance they mayt run into it or you're lucky anticpating their next movement and placing it ahead of them. Cripple will be the first thing and then run in when theyre slow to lay the trap. You can use the higher level razornet for max bleed damage if you can cripple them first and run in. The above BH guide explains it all very well.

Don't BH when laggy. I dfid and I came across looking like a chump. My actions where 3 seconds out so responding to my health was too late. I was already dead by the time my actions came out.

Friends are the best. Have them goad out anyone doing PVP in restuss. Or ask to duel them and then DB them when they're knocked out or just attack when theyre low in health.

Getting peeps out of houses - tricky and not always possible. You have several things you can do. attack an NPC creature lair nearby, it makes people curious and they often pop out to have a look. If you recognise the player and you know they have an ego as some very much do, make it known your after them. Have a macro that aplies powerups and food ready. When they see you're not buffed they'll come out, hit the macro, 1 second later you're buffed. I have a macro to do just that. and then when buffed and powered up go for it.

Wall glitching is a pain. anyone who pvp's all the time knows how to wall glitch. They run near walls and they can hit you but you cannot hit them. Try and get them into open areas. Also note every decent mark wants you to use your shield at the first opportunity. sometimes with medics and spies you really have to, so you have to knock em down quick. Once you run out of defensive abilities you're squishy so unless you have nearly killed them run away and come back another time. It keeps them on their guard and for some they would rather come after you so they can get on with their guild events or pvp stuff so make them impatient. They will soon make a mistake. You don't hjave to always drop them the first time.

Find out where the local buffhouses are. You can get your mark unbuffed on their way to the buff house. Perhaps spend a bit of time stalking people, see where they go, especially for those who pvp a lot in restus which is where most of your marks are going to be or how they get their bounty in the first place.

Clone camping is a favourite of mine as it is easy. People don't like it but they don't understand that a successful hunter does not go in all guns blazing, they can't. one on one against any half decent player with all the buffs under the world you'll mostly get creamed.

Use players ego's to your own advantage. sometimes its hard not to look like a hunter. Especially at restuss spaceport. People will come up to you quite a lo asking you to just go for it, come on and hit me, you're after me aren't you. Of course you're not but they think they're so uber that you must be after them, they must have a huge bounty...make them believe it. if you know your mark is in the group of special forces in restuss pvp zone and their mate thinks you're after him, make him believe it. your mark will not think it is them and you're more likely to be able to hit them if they move in closer thinking they're safe. When the person realises you're not going to attack they sometimes just leave thinking you're waitingfor friends to show up and lock themselves inside a building which isn't a bad thing, it gives your rebel or imperial faction friends doing pvp in restuss have to deal with one less hehe.

please feel free to add any help to this post. i am still learning and in no way a good BH, any help will be greatly appreciated. for those who are new to the class I hope the guides help.

I forgot to add that kinetic weapon rather than energy is better. Most have PSG's now so they should, for the most part, have a little less resistance to kinetic.
