Jedi vs BH

Thought since there were a few full temp Jedi in guild now we could pass on our
various advice concerning our BH encounters and how we survived / died and what
we learned.

So, from my point of view I have had 15-20 BH encounters, of which I can
honestly say only 3 have been of note.
Most BH aren't bothered by hunting Jedi now, as they are basically re spec loot
whores, so when the occasion arises that they have killed ther 99th boss mark
and reckon they take a Jedi no problem, they come looking for you.
If you have any type of common sense at all then you really don’t need to worry,
unless you are in that awkward early padawan level.
Longest fight I've had against one of these BH was about 2 minutes, if you have
your set-up right and don’t panic then you should be good to go.

Ok, so first my template and set-up / tactics;
I am Master Sabres, Master Defender, Healer 2xxx, Enhancer xxx3, I generally
don’t wear my paddy robe, as at the moment it doesn't work, and to be honest you
are better off with BE clothing.
My food / drink combo which I use for high end PvE and all PvP is (ideally)

Doc Buff
Booster Blue
Crispic
Pikatta Pie
Breath of Heaven
Venegrian Canape

This gives a good boost to everything and lasts a good 8-10 minutes before
things start to drop off.
Fill wise you should be good to go again in 10-12 minutes.
You may want to swap it around a bit to boost action a bit more.

Tactics wise, most important, and not easy to do in practice, DON'T PANIC!
At the end of the day, until FRS is reactivated, you can get your xp loss from
the BH back in an evening or two of 'grinding'. (or if like me you just hunt
with mates then it may take 2-3 sessions)
Sabre Throw is your friend, I usually have it set as an auto attack, but turn it
off when I get close enough for normal hits.
The combo I look for bleed, snare, getting amour break to stick, then knockdown
and then power attack.
As a wise woman once said, use your surroundings to your advantage.
You can't be shot through a house, or over a ridge on a dune.

Jibbletts Basic Jedi Survival Guide.
Set your radar to at least 256m, BH main weapon is surprise, if you see a
unknown dot on the radar and are ready to act then the main advantage is gone.
You CANNOT attack 1st, it is up to the BH to start combat, at which point you
will be teffed. This lasts for 2.5 minutes from the time of the last attack.
While teffed you cant enter houses etc. so keep that in mind.
Get a droid detection box thing put in your house, it will stop bomb droids
being sent in after you.
DON’T get into a slanging match with the BH, win or lose, even if they flame
you, its just not worth it.

So the 3 BH encounters of note....

1. The first time I even got taken out.
I was helping a KS member with ther paddy trials (Audie maybe?, cant remember)
we were looking for falumpasets and this was when all Jedi missions were named.
To be Honest I panicked, ran and got taken out really quickly. Not much more to
be said really.
I learnt not to panic and only run if you are distinctly at a disadvantage.

2. My first BH 'win'
I got jumped coming out of Coronet Starport, became a spectator sport in
milliseconds and was helped out by some friendly rebel soldiers.
What I learned; sometimes you just got to say screw the vis and get on with it,
and use your surroundings. The BH isn't going to continue to attack if a krayt
is bugging him

3. My recent 'Draw'
I was attacked whilst hunting about 2k north of AR with a full group, I was
sloppy and wasn't watching the radar and only knew something was up when my
speeder exploded.
So, I panicked. yes, yes, I know, I'm not unaware of the irony.
30 seconds later, panic over, I hit my food macro, switched to sabre throw and
started to try to salvage something out of the mess.
So we ran around and around for 10 mins on the sands, getting nowhere and I
decided to head for AR, buildings = no range advantage.
I got to AR, fought a bit more, we both paused to get buffed, fought a bit more,
etc etc.
40 - 45 minutes later the BH called a draw and I accepted, I wanted to spend
time with my friends, not run around AR like a headless chicken.
This BH was good, Persues by name and he knew his stuff. A good fight, in
hindsight.
Visibility be damned as the fight was watched by a crowd of AR citizens.
What did I learn?
I do have some staying power and I should never let my guard down.
My PvP tactic of watching 3 separate parts of the screen whilst using screen
commands, clicking toolbars and switching on / dumping macros may not suit
everyone and it certainly doesn't help with carpal tunnel syndrome
I need a better sabre

Well. I seem to have rambled on a lot, if anyone has any questions then feel
free to ask, and I will do my best to answer.
It would be great if Norok, Rom, Stark etc. could post ther views and advice
too.

Cheers and see you in the cloner

Jibbers

  • Don't get vis if you cant kill a BH and you care about loosing xp

  • Play some friendly pvp battles with guildies to learn from each other

  • Think what your disadvantages and advantages are (jibb pointed some good ones out above) and keep them in mind when fighting

  • Always have a toolbar pane with enough foods and stims on it

  • Use jedi heals when your mind alllows, use a combination of stims and ruby bliel when your mind runs low

  • Never run and fight the jedi, unless you are low on one of your HAMF bars, and need them to survive the BH

  • BH's cant track and kill you in space (launch) or when cloaked (although this really isnt my type of playing)

  • Don't become BH meat by always running around with 100/3000 health or channel upto 1000/1000 health.

  • Use normal skills and plan your jedi path, untill you are able to kill BH's with your jedi skills (takes long because of force regen/max and saber dps)

  • Exchange tips and tricks with the jedi and refine your weak spots when you are defeated and even when you did win from a BH. Use the combat pane with extended report to see what weapon they use, and how much theirs armor and yours absorbed.

  • Dont go into flames and cursing, like jibb sayed, it is just not worth it. BH and jedi both abuse certain ways (cloaking, jedi ganking, force run, taking by surprise) as long as it is not fixed by SOE it is part of the game, and you should take knowledge of it, and not complain it over and over.

And no, i never have been hunted by a BH yet (watching my vis, and only hunt in KS groups), but still the above points should be true :)

Ok my turn :D...

1. this may seem simple but 1st time i got killed by 2 BH's in My own house because it was on Public.. So put ur House on private :p and in the entry list (if u want to) type Guild:KS this will allow only KS inside :p

2. Never argue with bounty hunters ( i did argue :p ) because it a part of them game... took me a while to realize this :p

3. If the bounty hunter is a combat medic its gunna be hard to defeat them so ur best bet is to try and drain the action and mind bars so they cant heal themselves without stims ( i think)...

4. If ur grinding and you dont want Vis if u see a dot thats not in ur group just hit ESC a few times to stop ur hunting... This has worked for me and i hevent been hunted since publish 20 when vis was stopped in groups..

5. Have fun :p

I've been killed alot by BH :)

This was before group vis was fixed, and group hunting was simply worth the risk of vis because of the amount of xp you could get.

Lately, since terms dont reveal Jedi name or lvl, I've been hunted alot less, and on the occasions I have been hunted, I've won.

Needless to say while I was being killed alot, I was at that 'difficult' early padawan stage. I've never been a PVPer and paddy kinda forces your hand.

As said though, if you're gonna die cos you are low level, then so be it, xp is easy to get back now. You've just got to take it on the chin, and try and learn from it.

My temp now is like Jibbs, only my healer/enahncer values are reversed.

I've never really used much food, I think perhaps accaragm and pikatta on occasion. Although I recommend you do use it if you have it, food macros or toolbar slots are ideal.

Other useful stuff to have is a holocron for force replenishment and a health buff crystal.

My general tactics include;

The two force defences (aura and the other one:P), force health regen, throw (at master saber this usually KDs too), snare, now get close if possible. While close, Force armour Break, and I try to hit with as many states as possible. Bleed, Stun, Blind, Dizzy. In between each attempt at a state I'll use head, leg or body hit. Look at combat window to see if any does more dam than the other.

Up steps Zach......

Actually, can't give BH advice. Seems that if the Jedi has reached full template, I can't touch them.

I'm available for any jedi who wants to try themselves against a MBH MCM as I could use the practice. I've only hunted 2 imp jedi's so far, and they owned me (both full template), but against guildees who arn't full yet, I can do damage /grin

Incidentally, I got into friendly dialogue with both imps before and after the fight. Even got pointers. As said above - it's part of what BH's do (and more fun then looking for boss npc's)

I show respect, and expect it in return.

ok ill make one up for Bh to kill jedi...

1) never wear clothes or armour always fight in ur undies

2) always use a cdef rifle because they are most effective vs jedi

3) foods make bh feel sick so dont eat them

4) never use stims coz that is doing drugs and thats illegal

5) when tracking dont use ur swoop always run preferably walk

6) and lastly in mid fight turn ur screen off.

there u go boys and girls Audie's Bh vs jedi guide :)

What I could do with help is:

I'm a ranged dude, so need to keep away from the nasty jedi saber.  Last fight, it seemed like I was doing well, but he cloaked, sat around for 3 mins, called in a friend, who recharged all his force. Then he took me out in a few minutes. (he waited for TEF to go so mate could recharge him)

And advice on this one? If I stay close to stop them cloaking, i'm not going to last long against a jedi anyway.

And you still lose

And Zach, there is no way round it, cloak is a real pain in the arse.
Only way round it, maybe, is to stay close and call pets / droids and get them close too. The more things that are close to him the quicker his force is drained by the cloak.
I think the /tar command works when they are cloaked (which also is wrong) so /target them and get a droid / pet to attack?
Dont know really.

Can't target them while cloaked.

When my mark was cloaked, my seeker droid still located him for me. I stayed about 30 metres away until he came back. Are you saying if I went and stood next to him, it would drain his force to maintain the cloak? could that be a solution?

The only thing that is told to work is area attacks, even though the jedi is cloaked, he is still subject to area attacks.

Yes Zach, the more things that the 'cloak power' has to hide the user from the more force gets used.
So call a CH mate with 3 pets, use your pet and droid, invite your friends, have a aprty in his cloak zone.

Nope, no area attack's for a CM, although BH does have Spray Shot for an area attack.

Did you ever notice you can select a rifleman/jedi when you are in the group and click on the name, but cant target him with /target ?

Can't we find a way to do the same for BH's? when not in the group?
