Well basically, about 3-4 time s a day i have to restart my modem, it slows right down then eventually disconnects, i unplug it, plug it back in and its fine...any ideas???

Did you ask your internet provider to check the line to your house? In most cases they can also check wether your modem is ok. Also do you use a router to connect multiple pcs to the internet? Those things are also a big pain in the ass at times
But even when only your pc is on the router is "routing" the internet and can f***up your connection. And when your connection slows down her connection does the same so just tell her to quit moaning and just test it for a little while. (buy her a ticket to the movies if you must :P)
