Sheri Graner Ray's Letter to the Community

Hello!

I'd like to start off by saying how excited I am to be heading up the new SWG content team! Let me introduce myself by telling you a little about my background. I started in the game industry in 1990, as a writer and a designer on the Ultima series of stand-alone, PC titles. Some of the titles I worked on included: Ultima VII:The Black Gate, Ultima VII, Part 2: The Serpent Isle, and Ultima VIII: Pagan, as well as others.

Since then I've worked at a number of studios as everything from designer to Director of Product Development. I even ran my own studio for a short time. My love and passion are RPG-style games, and most recently online RPG games. I've played almost all of them, and have been in SWG since beta. I have a Master Medic/Master 2H (that I'm thinking of taking to Combat Medic) and I'm considering taking the Jedi path also. I'm in a guild and am solidly Imperial.

I'm also author of the book Gender Inclusive Game Design: Expanding the Market as well as the founder of the Women's Game Conference, and the co-leader of the Women's Special Interest Group (SIG) for the International Game Developers Association (IGDA.) But don't worry, I'm not going to make SWG into "girlie" game about fuzzy pink kitties! :~) What we WILL be doing is working to bring you deep, story-centric content that provides you with engaging and exciting adventures which brings the Star Wars world to life.

But this isn't going to be accomplished in a day, a month or even a calendar quarter. Currently we are ramping up on the tools and smoothing out the processes so we can get content to you in the quickest, cleanest way possible. Our plan is to get up to speed by producing content similar to what you see now and as we get our bearings, we will work to bring you more diverse, interesting, and most of all "Star Wars" focused quests and missions as we go forward.

During this phase, you can be certain one of our first tasks is to read through the boards and the archives to make sure we are completely familiar with what you have been asking for. Ultimately, we want to bring you the SWG experience you want and expect!

I'm looking forward to your feedback!

Sheri Graner Ray -- "Falagon"
Sr. Designer
Content Lead

Aye, it'd be good to see a few of these story-driven quests I've heard used to be around, back in the game again.
