Let's get the big question out of the way right away, yes; I have low-pop server news for you.
To help address the server population concerns that have been brought up by the community we will be implementing a Free Character Transfer program early next year. I do not have specific dates to announce now, but I do know that it will only run for a limited time. Any transfers made before the program kicks off will not be refunded. Additional details on this Free CTS program will be revealed closer to its start date. Also, to help clear some land on the servers, we will be running another House Pack-Up right around that same time. Both programs will have some cool rewards associated with them (marketing made me say that ).
As a huge lover of Halloween, monsters, horror films, and everything frightening one of the most exciting projects for me to work on since I've joined the team has been the Galactic Moon Festival. Our first ever Halloween event, the Galactic Moon Festival is poised to launch to the community at large on October 14th and will run through November 7th. Moenia and Mos Eisley have both been transformed into haunted attractions for all Galaxies players to visit. The cities and rewards look brilliant. I am particularly fond of the Galactic Moon Festival painting which depicts the Galactic Moon Festival organizer, Z'ozpheratu, in a dramatic pose. Swede, AdeptStain, and the art team all did a bang up job on bringing the Festival to life. This new annual event is sure to become a favorite for fans of all things macabre. The details of the event are as follows...
Jabba the Hutt has decided to throw the scariest festival of the year in both Moenia (on Naboo) and Mos Eisley (on Tatooine). He has ordered the cities to be fully decorated with fog, spiders, gravestones, scarecrows, and numerous other creepy items. He is encouraging all citizens of the Galaxy to visit the Galactic Moon Festival organizer, Z'ozpheratu, to obtain a costume and go trick or treating for Galactic Moon Coins. Z'ozpheratu will also be providing trick or treat devices to costumed citizens so that they can attempt to scare any folks who are stingy with their coins. Galactic Moon Coins can be redeemed with Z'ozpheratu for exciting rewards. Jabba has even provided a reward that is exclusive to Entertainers that will bring notes of joy to everyone's ears.
There are a lot of neat goodies associated with this event. I am going to be in there myself trying to get as many of them as I can. I look forward to seeing what all the interior decorators around the Galaxy will come up with!
Of course we have Hoth on the horizon as well. I hope everybody has been keeping up with the Friday Feature "sneak peeks" that we've been putting out as they offer a nice glimpse into what the team has been sweating away on for the past few months. The team members are still all stapled to their desks polishing it up and fixing bugs. We are at a stage now where we are play testing the instance several times per week and implementing the feedback that comes out of those play tests to ensure the experience is as fun as we can make it. The scope of this Heroic is unlike anything we've released before. It will be larger than any previous content push outside of our full expansions. The Hoth chapter will also include a cool Snow Machine as a publish gift (marketing made me say that, too).
Until next time, I hope everybody has an excellent Halloween!
am I right in hearing that before I came back, a lot of imp players left our server for a more PvP orientated one?
Wonder what 'free migrations' will cause? I'm guessing that there are lower population servers than ours out there, so I'd think we were more likely to see players come to our server instead of leaving it, unless there is another PvP exodus to the heavy pop servers, like bloodfin and brea etc.
I'm also guessing that none of our lot would consider moving to another server? (even if we scouted and found AR slot was free and there was a spare shuttle port on tat available?!) Not a sensible suggestion -just rocking the boat.
Interesting phrasing: "To help address the server population concerns that have been brought up by the community"
Suggests players complaining that their server is 'dead'?
would make sense - they offer free transfer, then announce that several servers will be shelved - forcing the people to move. Reckon that's what they are gonna do - less servers = higher population on remaining servers.
Well there is absolutely no point transferring one toon. Why would they do that? Surely transferring all toons would have a better impact on the server than splitting toons and forcing some to stay on a dead server?
read a lot of this treath on the soe forums but the guys from soe are not answering any questions plp ask about it hopefully they take a good look at the imputs plp give there and make a good plan how to handle this. It can potentially be their next big screw up

How surprising well tbh I think they are listen'ing hopefully really well and make it work keeping there customer's happy on the whole I know no one really wants to move or leave amber ridge/infinty server but tbh it's gonna be one of the one's binned.
I'm pretty certain I would quit if Infinity got canned Unless everyone moved to the same place and we all 'kept' the city etc etc, then maybe I wouldnt
If were forced to move, odds of going to a higher population server where we can get a metropolis slot on Tatooine? Slim to None. Shuttle allocation for planet? All gone. Bet Lok would be max'ed out too, plus any other inviting planet to settle.
If the majority of the clan re-locates, I'd come along to help plan any new city we could plant, but it will never be another Amber Ridge......
If people don't move and quit, more excuse for them to dump SWG for this new star wars mmorpg thing mentioned elsewhere.
Bet that's more twitch based, a lot less complex, and aimed at combat primarily. (not seen the original so thats a guess)
I have no problem moving to another server if both my accounts can and all toons on each account go for free. If at any point it starts costing me then I have to seriously think about my continuing to play. As much as I love AR, losing it wouldnt stop me playing - Id still have all my houses etc they'd just be in differant places. Taking KS is more important to me, if the people all go then the houses arent important to me.
I know someone's gonna tan my pimply hide for saying this, but why don't they create a new server and let people from dead and dying servers transfer all toons over to that single one. That would allow full guilds to resettle in one place. Having read that back to myself the cracks in my plan have already become dark, menacing chasms!! BEER

would be like the pioneer days - land grab! all the servers populations released at zero hour onto a green field site, and everyone fighting for the best slots!
would be quite funny to observe, but frustrating as a city and clan!
Same here if i cant move everything for free (characters, items, rewards, resources (not that i have many)) . And if not all of KS goes, i'll be might go looking for other stuff to play
Dont think your plan is that bad Dod making a blank server gives plp the most equal chances possible i think.
Well that's what we trying to talk about we dont know the full scale of there plan's yet but it doesnt hurt for us to try n plan a move if a move is needed as a united front would be best alot of discussion will be needed before we make concrete plan's. Yes think that had been metioned in thread's before Dod It would be nice, but it obviously is'nt the route SOE are taking. Time will reveal more im sure :D
Wow people agreeing with an idea that I think would be a complete logistical nightmare. Strange. Strange that SOE have decided not to listen to the punters. They're usually so concered about what we think.

...but still leaves the question - when the free transfer comes into effect, if you can move *all* your toons, should we move to a busier server, or stay on Infinity and risk the other half of the population leaving.......
Its not a risk, its a certainty. Even if they dont close Infinity, the FCT will kill it.
The 'only' thing we will lose by moving is AR. Yes its a massive loss, but at this stage its a case of damage limitation.
There's a chance we MIGHT find some half decent spot of land, we might buy a half dead city, we might merge and get part owenership of a city, etc, etc. We WILL see alot more activity, more interactivity with other guilds, more people, more potential recruits.
But once this FCT goes ahead Infinity will be deader than it is now.
Personally, I'm for the move. Farstar over Chimaera for me, mainly because all the pvp idiots left Infinity for Chim :P and Chim is the highest populated, meaning less chance of housing land.
I have no experience of other servers, having never spent any time anywhere but Infinity.
Agree with sentiment keeping away from the PvP exodus from Infinity from a while ago, as I've heard many say that was no big loss.
We need to have a discussion, shortlist a couple of servers, then send scouts out to see what's possible as locations. Also have a preference of what planet we would rather re-settle on.
Agree that a more active server would be a breath of fresh air, as trade is really dying out on Infinity.
I'd be more than happy to be involved with designing a new city, be it New Amber Ridge, Dunes Edge Revisited, or by any other name. Only real requirement for a tidy city is a v flat bit of land of suitable size - of course these would be in big demand. Maybe if we find one, setup a toon and start a new town ahead of the free transfer?
Do we Really Rely on anyone outside the guild that will have an effect on us if they left, and surely if people left and guilds disbanded, it would leave players open to recruitment? To be honest im not sure what all the fuss is about, im staying on infinity whatever.

Well depend's what your after Audie I suppose if your happy to just log on a few evening's craft a few weapon's n maybe do the occasional guild outing, then thats fine but maybe you will be selling less weapons and much less guild outings and then maybe you will see what the fuss is about!
I agree with the move farstar is starting to seem like a popular choice so far, and I would be up for sending a scout out after further discussion's with guild, BTW Rom one pvp idiot stayed :P /halo self
