Anyone else here an F1 fan? So what's going to happen today with the final date for unconditional entries from 5 of the bigguns, and also the press release from FOTA yesterday?!
EDIT: Well, it's off topic, and apparently I have to get my post count up!!

LOL @ post count :) Yeah I'm an F1 fan. I say f*#k the teams that have left. F1 is bigger than Ferrari and McLaren and they can crash and burn for all I care. In my opinion the cash cap and a few more smaller teams will make the sport what it is supposed to be, motor RACING. I'm fed up with either McLarren or Ferrari just doing laps while all else trail in their wake. Mix it up some with more cars of a similar spec and lets see more racing. Rant over.

Gotta say that I've not seen it from that side. TBH, I'm all for the split off, which will (IMHO, of course!) allow the best overall package to be in the lead.
I can see where you're coming from with keeping teams to a cap - that will (likely) mean that all cars in the championship will be of a very similar spec and design, meaning we truly get to see the best racer as the hardware should be pretty much the same, but I still stand by my "overall package" comment above!
If 2 teams are willing to race side by side, where 1 team can afford twice as much as the other, then let them race, I say
I will switch to the new championship. For me formula 1 is with limitless resources, i want to see technical marvels and not 20 the same cars :) If i want to see that i can look at touring car for example
No cash caps for me. If 1 teams want to spend 10 times more then others fine by me :D Its about the car/team just as much as the driver

I used to love F1, but it just turned into a procession and whoever was in pole would win as long as the pit stops went ok. Not what I call racing.
Now Moto GP is racing, anyone who's capable of doing the things they do with such skill deserves respect. If you doubt that then you should have watched the Catalunya Moto Gp on Sunday, especially the last 2 laps. I haven't cheered at the TV like that for a long time, well at least since Pompey won the FA cup anyway.
Haven't really hit a nerve, just like to disturb the hornets nest and watch the swarm so here goes round two:
With the big guns buying the title every year and then crying when a smaller team take the design initiative off them with one small change (yes I'm talking to you Ferrari) or taking to spying and lying (McLaren and Hamilton come on down) then, in my eyes, all integrity for the sport is lost. Get rid, let smaller teams compete and let the rich teams massage their wallets and egos elsewhere.
LOL.
Man I love ranting and flaming.

Right, In my eyes, this year season has been alot better with McLaren and ferrari not dominating, and with Button finerlly in a car that he likes, we seeing the likes or redbull racing up there with brawn, although it gets boring watching button lead the whole race from pole i still watch it. With the Likes of Prodrive (who will later on use the Aston Martin branding) and the Return of Lotus with the Cosworth engine, next season Could be interesting. As for the Sport itself, i think it got way too political and something does need to change to bring back the sport we once loved, Bringing in a Budget caps probably isnt the answer. however the new teams i mensioned will depend if there is a cap or not. And honestly i dont think the FIA will go ahead with it if 8 of the current teams leave. and you anyone find any Paragraphs around here let me know..

Beer is not the answer, Beer is the question, "Yes" is the answer.
New teams can't afford to join unless there is a cap
Old, rich teams can't dominate unless they can spend cash on R+D
Cars havn't been the "limitless resources, technical marvels" for years, as every season there are limits placed on the teams (turbos, horsepower, aero limits, wing size, wheel treads etc) to keep the racing slower and safer - and therefore all about the same performance wise, making overtaking harder, and ruining a lot of the fun. It's more tactics in pit lanes and podium rather than driver skill (but it helps to have a good, steady driver in the seasons best car)
BBC has just got the rights back to F1, and a lot more people are watching it again this season. Where will you be able to watch the splinter group race?
What about A1 racing? A concept to have identical cars for each country, and race on a level playing field so its driver vs driver? Still going, but doesn't seem to have that big a following (is it on channel 5?)
well i don't watch formula 1 :D or any other form of motoring sports, but i'll give my 2cents.
looking at it from a R&D and big compay point of view, lets take Ferarri, they had a turnover the first Quarter of 2009 of 441 million euro's and a profit of close to 60million :D this is in 3 months time, i can imagian them being slightly upset that they can only use 70mil in Formula 1 what to them is there Advertisement and part R&D.
i'd say a rule like this from the F! comitee is actually disturbing there busniss plan, cause u might all think its about cars and drivers and racing, but im sure deep down u know its about money.
and a new league will perhaps be good for ferrari and the other teams , but as zach says is there enough following to have them both side by side.
Was fun yesterday watching John Howett (Toyota F1 boss, and FOTA Deputy Chairman) say one minute that there's no way the FOTA teams are going to back down and join F1 next year with the current restrictions, and then the next minute Spanky, sorry, Max Mosley saying that he thinks the teams will give up very soon with no concessions from the FIA.
I'm not sure if there's enough following or not to have another series in motorsport, but all we can hope for is that whatever happens, we end up with some cracking races in the latter half of this season, and some fantastic races next year, no matter what happens!
In an ideal world, I'd like to see Max go, the FIA listen to the teams, for there to be some concessions from all sides, and just stick with F1 next year.
As Zach says, a lot of the racing now is all abuot pit lane tactics, but with no refuelling next year (I'm not dreaming that, am I? I'm fairly certain there's to be no pit lane refuelling next season), there's not really a lot of tactics that can come out of the pit lane ... unless ... someone develops a rock hard front wing, and then one by one "accidentally" drives into the other drivers, forcing them into the pits for a nose change, new tyres etc...
