Friday Feature Galactic Moon Festival Celebrations! - 10/22/2010
Galactic Moon Festival Celebrations
In an effort to gain more support from the planets Naboo and Tatooine, Jabba the Hutt has decided to throw the annual Galactic Moon Festival once more so everyone can celebrate the horrifyingly awesome haunts of the season. Jabba has grown tired of all the love festivals, celebrations of life, and other saccharine events. Thus, he has taken it upon himself to throw the scariest festival of the year!
This year's event provides new costumes and new rewards. Also, a mysterious Afflicted Storyteller vendor haunts the festival this year offering familiar and surprising new rewards.
Jabba's plans have been successful once again. Citizens from all corners of the galaxy have traveled to Mos Eisley and Moenia to take part in the festivities. While some simply take part in the festival despite any dangers they may face, others have taken on the role of promoters and decorators.
Galactic Moon Festival Event Month
The Galactic Moon Festival Event Month continues! For more information, visit the Events and Storyteller section of the Star Wars Galaxies forums. Here's a peek at some of the events that are coming up:
In Solaria, Rori I try to keep citizens and visitors interested in the city by decorating City Hall for the major holidays. Making it spooky for the Galactic Moon Festival had received a lot of positive feedback, and I hope people enjoy it this year too.
This Death Trooper armor guards the entrance to the mayor's office. Notice the rotting stomach in the background and an appropriate warning sign to ward off the squeamish.
One of the usual city hall attractions is the "city in a city" display which the fog machine is engulfing. A carved pumpkin is resting on a house in the background and a Tusken raider is sporting some biological flair.
A krayt skeleton is trying to scale the wall while skulls and carved pumpkins watch. The two outfits are costumes from a fan film I starred in called "To the Moon and Back."
Neither heroes nor villains are safe from my decorating, hence the Jan-Go-Lantern and the big brain on Mace.
This is me posing in one of the more mundane scenes; a skeleton in front of a painting of Z'ozpheratu.
I must have gotten too close to the decorations. I ended up stuck in my own web.
It seems an afflicted version of me is trying to destroy City Hall. Hopefully his dexterity had been severely hampered but... uh-oh. Little help, GMs?
This house was decorated in conjunction with the GMF event I am hosting on the October 30th, and will remain up for the next few weeks during the duration of the festival.
Entry Hall - I used holocrons from the chronicles vendor to create some shifting mood lighting. to try and "hide" these a bit and keep it feeling like the light was coming from the structure itself. I paneled the hallway using basic cabinets and pitched the ceiling to provide a more vaulted look. An arrow on the wall points the "next victim" along the path. This also allowed me to create some nooks to place Sith-o-lanterns from last year's event to help with the GMF feel.
Torture Room - On the right hand wall we have the shackled remains of a few prisoners and a stormtrooper who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Using more holocrons from the chronicles vendor, I was able to light the room in an eerie red and give the impression that these were torture devices used on the prisoners. To keep the fear rolling, I have mounted a factional mini turret in the upper left hand corner "covering" the prisoners.
Imperial Torture Droid - This is one of our imperial torture droids hard at work on another prisoner. Unfortunately he doesn't know when to quit, as evidenced by the skeletal remains of his latest victim. Droids are also not above our deviousness, as you can see from the poor R2 unit pictured. The small interface on the side of the torture device allows the lucky person to use either pre-programmed torture routines or create their own unique ones.
Political Prisoner - The remains of a political prisoner we tried to extract information from. It seems his jumpsuit faired a bit better than he did however. Some are still convinced that his spirit still remains due to the faint glow from the eyes of his skull.
Resident Mad Scientist - The Mad Scientist's zombie assistant stands ready to answer his needs, though it seems the poor guy is always hungry as every time someone walks past him he begs for a snack of brains. The ceiling here was also tiled with basic cabinets to allow for the recessing of a holocron from the chronicles vendor to provide an easier light to work in. The lung vats are a wonderful depository for his spare parts, though he does keep leaving his left over bits in a pile in the center of the room.
I do hope you have enjoyed the little tour of our "house of horrors", and hope you will take the time if possible to come by and experience it first hand.
The Diner of Death is decorated with Death Troopers and Galactic Moon Festival items. The "Murderous Chef" (vender) is seen here cooking a bowl of skeleton leg soup.
The diner is run by an evil witch of Dathomir.
Some food may be "experimented" on.
Broader view with sarlaac trash can shown.
The kitchen may not be up to galactic code, but the food is to die for.
I was sitting at my desk in the City Hall while reading one of the latest news snip when I suddenly got a chill up my spine. Then I heard voices saying saying something! *shivers*
The eerie voices turned out to be members of my guild. Someone had left the comm message on. After a slight hint from my guild about celebrating the most spooktacular time of year, I suddenly remembered what happened to the last person that crossed a Hutt. I soon set out to work on gutting out City Hall.
I've never been one to shrink from a challenge, and loving anything related to decorating, Whrr, that's me, converted our once happy cozy hall into something else, something dead no that's not quite right something un- umm never mind what's in there. You will find that out if you drop by to visit!
