RE: SWTOR Info

Im sure they will be very popular.

I like the look of the trooper, but judging by the sign ups, it seems everyone else does too.

I think I might try smuggler - just for the sake of being differant!

But I am interested to see how many toons/server we get.

Just saw a new video with live action http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gc-11-star-wars/719047

I must say im a bit dissapointed. I like the the way the 2nd wave enters the fight, but the rest looks (a bit) underwhelming to me.  This will not make me cross the line to pre ordering

That video has actually increased my interest. The massive group sizes and the need for co op really appeals.

And I actually like the visuals too. I think it's gonna be pretty cool all in all but time will tell I guess.

You must have seen a different video, the one i saw was with a group of 8 :P
The co op looks nice yes, but imo its nothing special, a tank dps medic crowdcontrol (this time most of them have a ls though). To me the graphics and visuals are really poor, i dont like the cartoony look, and the animations are pretty poor imo (if you compare swg's orbital strike with the on in this video, id pick swg's anyday.) But then again i am a sucker for super high resolution textures, high polygon counts and a bag of special lighting tricks (not that we have that in swg, but that game is 8 years old now).

Guess ill still try the game, but im still reserved about it. But like any mmo, the plp you play it with are maybe more important then the game itself.

I never listen to salesmen :) i looked at the video :P (and 16 is still not huge imo :D )

(plus if hear plp from Wow talking how annoying it is to get a big group. Missions needing groups that large are a downside sooner then a plus :P)

SWG used to have grp sizes of 20 (I think).

Just cos the group CAN be that big doesn't mean it needs that many - and it allows for redundancy i.e. two medics come along, one experienced to teach the newer one.

I can add tactics too, split the group into say two, as the health drops, fresh people run in to take over.

Basically I imagine lots of scope to make the game your own.

Oh and how many times did we say ' any room in heroics for me?', ' no, but maybe we have enough for two groups?'

16 in a group? more the merrier!

RE: SWTOR Info

Thanks for posting that mont, somehow I end up getting more news about tor from here than their newsletters :p

I don't want spoil anything for anyone so here on the forums I'll say that, after playing about 1/2 the game, I'm really having a lot of fun, pve and pvp. So far not much for sandbox-style content, but I think it delivers exactly what it's advertising, though playing is more fun than vids make it seem IMO.

News from SWTOR.com

Guild Alignment Begins

guild_phase_ii_131x99.jpg

Back in March we initiated our Pre-Launch Guild Program, where members of the Star Wars: The Old Republic community could search for already established guilds or register one of their very own through the Guild Headquarters page. We are thrilled to announce that we have begun the second phase of our Pre-Launch Guild Program!

With Phase 2: Alignment, we are introducing new features which allow guilds to set their allegiance with other guilds in The Old Republic. Now a guild leader, along with members who have the proper permissions, can select up to three guilds as either Allies or Adversaries, depending on their faction affiliation. Qualifying guilds that are marked as Allies and Adversaries of other guilds will have the highest chance of being placed in the game together, allowing these guilds to coexist on the same server.

Another feature being implemented with Phase 2 is the ability for guild leaders and members with the proper permissions to invite friends to join their guild via email. You can start recruiting new members today!

To learn more about guilds in The Old Republic, check out the Guilds Game System page for details, and to search for or join a guild, visit the Guild HQ now! Also be sure to visit the Guilds FAQ for answers to commonly asked questions.

Sorry for the silence lately but things are always rather "odd" around me wink

Rommi gave me leadership of the Imp guild a bit back, so anyone wanting to sign up should follow the link for Spirit of Korriban http://www.swtor.com/guilds/106460/spirit-korriban and I'll get you setup ASAP.

For those pre-ordering the game via Origin.com please BEWARE:

The site says they will only charge you a small fee ($5 in US) for the pre-order/early game access and the remaining balance ($54.99 in US) once the game is released. HOWEVER, they charged me the full $59.99 + tax when I pre-ordered hmm

*UPDATE* They did credit back the $54.99 + Tax but it took 48 hours instead of the 24 hours stated on their site.

Actually the cheapest place for pre-order was $59.95 rather than Origin.com's price of $59.99.

Decided to throw caution to the wind and spend the extra $0.04 so I can get it via digital download rather than having to wait 3-4 days after it goes live to have it shipped to me wink

RE: SWTOR Info

They look great. Loving BH!.

Which brings me to remind people not to forget about the imperial guild we have for people wanting to try imp classes, (I thought imperial agent would be right up Pen's street ;-p  ).

Also, Marrt should make our imp guild a 'preferred enemy/ally' or whatever the term is, it means a greater liklihood of of those two guilds being placed on the same server.
