New expansion loot rewards

In case you all haven't seen, EVERY loot reward in the new expansion is NON-TRADEABLE.

Another genius idea from SOE.

No content for crafters - low CL means you're dead and no chance of finishing the quests. No new schematics.

No space zone. Way to alienate a previous expansion.

Combat toons will only need to bother with a small part of the game as they can only use certain loot rewards and can't sell the rest. Plus once your uber looted weapon decays, you can't get another one as people can't sell them to you...

Yet another reason why I refuse to pay for this pack of cack just to get a fancy house and ANOTHER vehicle for $30

No more money from me for new expansions until they fix what we already have...

If that's true about non tradable loot, i'm sure the upcry on the forums will revert that decision.

The in game economy NEEDS new loots to shift the money around!

Loots are now tradeable, in the majority of case, but will be biolinked before using.
Same at RotW, so shows they listen to the players, sometimes, a bit, maybe.

You will get one 8 player Transport Skiff and early access to the expansion, which is scheduled to begin on October 25, 2005.  Anyone who purchases the expansion, whether or not you pre-order, will get the three additional ground vehicle datapad slots (one per account) as well as the Lava Flea (the exclusive new mount that protects you from taking lava heat damage on the planet of Mustafar) (one per account) and an exclusive new style of house (one per account).

What reason will there be for Combat Level 1 characters to get the expansion?

With this expansion we are offering a variety of content and adventures that will interest players of all different professions. For crafters there will be new crafting schematics, as well as new resources available that can only be found on the planet of Mustafar.  Dancers, entertainers, and musicians will certainly be interested in the new dance, dance props, and song that you can get there.  And anyone with a ground vehicle will benefit from the three additional vehicle slots available in the datapad as a bonus with purchase of the expansion.   The broad range of new features, creatures and resources included in this expansion along with the pre-order rewards, the purchase rewards, and some other currently unannounced content all add up to a powerful new episode for our game.  We think you will find that there are lots of reasons non-combatants will be interested in this new expansion

Will the expansion be set up so it’s desirable to return after you’ve completed the quests?
Yes. There will be a lot of content that offers re-playability and with good reason, which we can't reveal yet - but you will want to come back and play through several of the quests and revisit many of the points of interest.

Does Mustafar have a space zone?
No, it does not.  We wanted to focus our efforts on making a strong planetary adventure experience.

Is there any news on new ships coming out with the new expansion?
There will be a new starship available in the expansion. Though we can't announce what ship it is yet, we can say that you will be able to enjoy traveling around in it with your friends.

What are some of the highlights of the expansion?
Star Wars Galaxies: Trials of Obi-Wan takes place on a harsh lava world unlike anything seen in our current game. There, you'll find a lava river and erupting volcanoes, as well as other dark and mysterious caves and dwellings. The expansion is built around the fiction of Mustafar, so there are many new story-driven quests, some of which revolve around Old Republic technology that has been discovered there. There will be lots of high-level loot, cool new reward items and features (including an increase in the number of ground vehicles that can be stored and used by the player), and many more exciting things. All of these aspects combine to make this expansion look and feel like you are literally walking into the world of Episode III.

Why would any loyal Imperial want to help Obi-Wan do anything?
Without getting into the details of the Obi-Wan quests, which we can't yet share, let me just say that Obi-Wan is concerned with something that not only impacts Rebels, but that could just as easily topple the entire Empire.

Just some details from the FAQ :) http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/trialsofobiwan/
I dont care about no space tbh, let them focus on what we did buy swg for before JTL ;)
The only thing i want to know before i pre-order is if there will be a bundle (rotw toow) before christmas for a better price

Lol

Thing is, it's all very well saying that there are new schems and resources available on the planet, but from what I've heard, the MOBs are so hard core that most crafters will die a horrible death before they get anywhere...

Ho, hum. Only 3 more squads to go for the 9 Ace club

what do you want? a simple deliver mission from the terminal? drive there, nod to the NPC that you indeed are there for the 'fuzzy funny easter bunny slippers schematic' craft it, and wait till easter?

Nooo, we want hard core difficulty, we want to need the fastest vehicle from the galaxy, with decoy droids to keep the agros of, camouflaged up to the toes with camo kits, under contract by revivers and jedi-bodyguards. That all to get part 1 of 100 of the slippers-lace schematic. Then to find out we need resources that only spawn once in a year, all to keep us entertained

I wouldnt mind some challenge and a few horrible deaths in exchange for some good fun, it is better then being able to succeed every mission without dying! And dont worry, for guildies i will be the bodygaurd for sure if they need one

(cough, i did the corvette with Zu'l (cl 1) once, he was crafter but, could do everything except the bridge part was loads of fun though, and did get the berserker schematic and both barrels as reward)

/salute

I'm also available.

Incidentally, all well and good asking for high end MOBs and quests, but we've yet to do the DWB that's been around for AGES!  I even hear of n00b guilds going regularly now.

Practice is nice, but sometimes the only way to learn is to die horribly :P

I'm all for difficult, and I realise that this is an MMORPG, and that I belong to a guild where we have a great team who will bend over backwards to help each other out, but...

The fact remains that they haven't catered this expansion to the wider playerbase. From the feedback that's coming out of the testers, you really need to be a Jedi or a double combat master CL80 to make your way around practically ALL of the planet.

Now, for those who aren't CL80 but who are in a Guild - great, not a problem. Should be fine to get a group together to help.

But there are plenty of people out there who aren't in Guilds, who want to play solo, or just through the times that they can play have no choice but to play solo. So... no reason for them to shell out on the expansion.

Then there's the whole problem that started with ROTW and the looted weapons being overpowered. Since the CU, crafters (especially weaponsmiths) have gotten the shaft. Weapons like the proton carbine and the Necrosis weapons are superior to weapons that can be crafted. Rather than having the reward as a schematic - even limited use - that you can sell to a crafter, you instead get a weapon that most people can ADK that is better than anything someone can make and sell you and with an ADK will also last forever and mean that you never need to buy another weapon.

I know that the lack of a space area isn't a big deal to some, but to others space is practically the only thing keeping them in game. They release an expansion that adds an ESSENTIAL element to any Star Wars game, and then ignore it. It's insane.

Admittedly no one's being made to buy the new expansion, but when they postpone attention to other bugs and problems that have been present since the beta testing of the game, the least they could do is spend the time making an expansion that everyone can enjoy...

I have to agree that the way the wookie world rewards were handled was poor.
The weapon and ships should have been supplied as schematics and blueprints, enabling the crafters to get some output from the game too.
Reward stuff should never be as good as the top of the range, uber quality, best resource, 12pt, inspiration buffed stuff.
I also personally think ADK's should be biolinked, but thats another issue.

Anyway, erm.. so I agree with most of the points here and offer my assistance where needed. basically
