Kaon Under Siege Flashpoint

The Tion Hegemony is in utter chaos. A mysterious outbreak of the Rakghoul plague has spread across several worlds, killing countless civilians while mutating others into Rakghouls themselves. On the planet of Kaon a small group of survivors fight against the endless waves of Rakghoul monstrosities. Now both the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire have set plans in motion to rescue the survivors of Kaon, locate the source of the virus, and forge an alliance with the Tion Hegemony.

We are excited to give you this preview of Kaon Under Siege, the new Flashpoint coming January 17 as part of the next major Game Update for Star Wars: The Old Republic!

Game Update 1.1: Rise of the Rakghouls Coming Jan. 17th!

Today we are excited to announce Game Update 1.1 for Star Wars: The Old Republic is coming January 17th! Called Rise of the Rakghouls, this is the first of what will be many regularly-scheduled content updates for the game.

There are a number of additions to the game with Game Update 1.1. One of these is a vast expansion of the already-existing Karaggas Palace Operation. This addition will more than triple the size of the Operation as a whole! Playing through the expanded Hutt Hospitality Operation will test you and your allies skills against Karaggas private army of bounty hunters and battle Droids before culminating in a massive final battle! Making your way through Karaggas palace will reward you with powerful new gear, and even more extravagant rewards for those who take on the Operations in hard mode!

In addition to the expanded Operation, we are introducing a brand new Flashpoint entitled Kaon Under Siege. This Flashpoint takes you and up to three of your allies to the planet of Kaon, which has been decimated by a mysterious outbreak of the Rakghoul virus. Fighting your way through hordes of the twisted monstrosities, you will have to locate a small band of survivors and learn the truth behind the outbreak. Kaon Under Siege offers players the chance to experience a gripping new story while earning new gear! You can get a sneak peek of the brand new Flashpoint right now!

  • Fixed a bug that could cause the Global Cooldown to appear as if it has been cancelled when it is actually still in effect, resulting in a feeling of unresponsiveness to input.
  • Corrected an issue that could cause an ability icon to appear usable but be unresponsive to clicks or keypresses for several seconds.
  • Players revived by other players, including by in-combat revival abilities, now revive with 25% of maximum health.

The False Emperor

  • Fixed a conversation that could cause the cinematic with Arkis Wode to function incorrectly.

The Foundry

  • Fixed an issue that could prevent the final fight in this Flashpoint from beginning after the cinematic.
  • The final boss can no longer become stuck in an invulnerable state; there was still a small window where this could occur.

The Red Reaper

  • Lord Kherus now grants less experience.
  • Some of Lord Kherus's abilities have had their damage values adjusted to be more in line with the level of the Flashpoint.
  • Players now enter into melee range with Lord Kherus in order to stop him from throwing crates.

Operations


Eternity Vault

  • Players no longer randomly die in this Operation after being in Gharj's lava.

Karagga's Palace

  • Foreman Crusher's enrage now includes a movement speed increase, allowing him to catch players who attempt to run.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Materials Disposal Unit's main control station from becoming useable again after the Operation Group is defeated by the G4-B3 Heavy Fabricator on 16-man Hard Mode.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the G4-B3 Heavy Fabricator from deploying the correct number of Proximity Pulse Mines and Security Stun Drones during combat.
  • The damage from G4-B3 Heavy Fabricator's sticky pulse grenade will scales appropriately for the selected Operation difficulty level.
  • Karagga no longer fires his Unstable Energy twice in a row.
  • Taking the shuttle after defeating Karagga no longer transports players to the incorrect hangar.
  • Walls that were missing in Karagga's Palace are now in place.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that prevented some players in Operations Groups from receiving credit for the missions "[WEEKLY] Deadly Operations," "[WEEKLY] Galactic Operations," and "Journey to the Belsavis Depths." The entire Operations Group now receives credit when the objective is completed.

  • Improved response time for ability activation requests in low-framerate situations.
  • Implemented further improvements to ability responsiveness and client-side anticipation of ability executions.
  • The activation bar now appears at the correct time (when the activation of an ability begins) and disappears when activation is complete.

  • Rakata weapons are now correctly rating 140 and are fitted with mark 25 modifications. These items were previously less powerful than intended.
  • The number of commendations in Champion and Battlemaster Bags has been greatly increased, and the direct item trade tokens appear less frequently in Champion Bags. This change allows players to obtain PvP gear at a steady and significantly more predictable rate with an occasional bonus.

Vendors
  • It is no longer possible to purchase items while holding down the Shift, Alt, or Ctrl keys.

  • Leave Nothing Behind: The Frozen Biomass Container now remains lootable if the loot window is closed.
  • Most Wanted: A mission item can no longer be rolled on if it is looted while the player is in a group.
  • Need to Impress: Players can now speak to Ambassador Jannik if they have already completed the mission Gormak Country.
  • The Lightspring: The toughness of Vaverone Zare and Nariel Pridence has been decreased. This mission can no longer be failed.
  • The Shadow Fist: Mission progress for players who are on this mission has been reset to the first step. Players can no longer become locked out of the stealth generator room.

A dev-comment about the patch:
 
Hi,

I wanted to drop some notes on the changes made to the BioChem profession in the patch (1.1.2) that just went onto the Public Test Server, how they fit in the big picture and how we are proceeding forward with crafting professions in endgame in general.

First off, we removed the requirement to have the BioChem profession to use Energized and Exotech stims and adrenals. This was done to (a) remove pressure of players to pick up BioChem for optimal combat performance and (b) to open up the sale of BioChem products to a larger audience on the Galactic Trade Network.

Additionally, we've reduced the effectiveness of the BioChem exclusive Rakata Stimpacks to be equal to Energized stimpacks. Their intended benefit is the cost savings they provide over time, not an increase in power. We are also in progress of reviewing the creation costs of many consumables in the game against the economic realities (acquisition cost of purple mission materials on our live servers) and will likely make adjustments to these in the future.

It is our intention to gradually, over multiple patches, reduce the impact of situational consumables on endgame combat resolution and shift the factors which determine the outcome of combat more towards personal skill. As part of this effort, specifically for PvP, we are also working on changes that will reduce the gear related power difference between new characters at level 50 and players in full PvP gear. We feel that at the current time, this difference is too high.

On a more general note about crafting, our changes to make BioChem consumables freely tradeable are just a small first step as part of a larger scale effort to extend our crafting gameplay, for all professions, into the endgame.

Major changes are currently on schedule for the next major content patch, such as extractable basemods (armoring, barrel, etc.) from purple items, critical crafting successes on orange outfits, more bind-on-equip schematic drops for artifice and other professions, increased relevance of augments, better reverse engineering chance, and other improvements. We want to create significant incentive for players to engage in the crafting economy as provider of goods or supplier - without requiring players to take up a specific profession as a ticket into endgame.

Long term, our plan is to evolve Star Wars: The Old Republics game economy to a more player driven model, strengthen and improve the GTN and embrace the games extensive appearance customization throughout the game. We have a long list of improvements planned for that but were also anxious to hear from you. Feel free to use this thread to give us your feedback on the topic!

Combat Ability Responsiveness

  • Further improved response time for ability activation requests, especially in low-framerate situations.

  • Raze: Now triggers from activating melee attacks that hit a target affected by Lightning Charge's Discharge effect. This effect now triggers more easily but cannot trigger as frequently.
  • Death Field: Heals the caster for 1% of maximum health for each target struck. This healing effect can no longer crit and no longer consumes Recklessness charges.
  • Devour: Now doubles the amount of healing generated by Death Field and Parasitism.

Karagga's Palace

  • The chest that is awarded for defeating Karagga on Nightmare Mode no longer appears partially inside a wall.
  • Foreman Crusher's Perforating Rend now correctly applies itself to targets caught within the conical attack.
  • Jarg & Sorno: The Carbonizer Probe no longer disappears if all of the players who attacked it died before the Carbonizer Probe was destroyed.
  • Karagga no longer appears above portions of the walls during the fight.
  • Karagga's chest no longer spawns after defeating Bonethrasher in Nightmare Mode.

  • Rakata weapons are now correctly rating 140 and are fitted with mark 25 modifications. These items were previously less powerful than intended.

  • The Lightspring: The toughness of Vaverone Zare and Nariel Pridence has been decreased. This mission can no longer be failed.
  • The Shadow Fist: Mission progress for players who are on this mission has been reset to the first step. Players can no longer become locked out of the stealth generator room.

  • Class abilities that pull a hostile target (like Grapple, Harpoon, and Force Pull) can no longer be used to pull enemies onto the spawn shelf.

Ilum

  • Chests on Ilum now respawn less frequently to reduce potential gains from farming.
  • Particle Cannons can no longer be permanently disabled.
  • Implemented safeguards to address a Valor exploit.
