I get VPU recovery crashes on most games, so i searched the internet and found this
System hangs, VPU Recover errors or corrupted display when using ATI PCI-Express graphics cards in ASUS Motherboards
The information in this article applies to the following configurations:
§ ATI RADEON X300/X600/X800 series PCIe graphics card
§ ASUS Intel 915/925 or nForce4 based motherboard
In some instances, when PEG Link Mode is set to a value other than Slow within the BIOS setup, users may experience system instability resulting in graphics corruption, video memory or VPU Recover errors.
ASUS has recently introduced a new BIOS feature called PEG Link Mode. This feature is available for both AMD and Intel based motherboards and allows the user to increase the engine and memory clocks on the graphics card.
The five user configurable options are:
§ Auto
§ Slow
§ Normal
§ Fast
§ Faster
By default the feature is set to Auto, which is the same as "Normal". However, the Normal setting still slightly overclocks the video card by almost 8%.
The PEG Link Mode value must be set to "Slow" in order to disable the overclocking feature, and allow for proper functionality. To set the PEG Link Mode to Slow, please refer to the steps below:
§ Enter System BIOS
§ Open Advanced menu -> open the Chipset menu
§ Locate PEG Link Mode
§ Change setting to Slow
well geez how is it possible that i happen to have a ASUS intel 915G MB and a ATI XT 850 and have this problem so i was thinking problem solved just set the thingie in Bios
But my Bios doesn't have that option so i reflashed with the most up to date one and guess what no PEG option, also downloaded the most recent drivers for vid card but still have crashes
Any one have a suggestion other then trow away the PC
Thx isha :D usefull page i searched it some on VPU crashes, seems everyone agrees its overheating no one can prove it though :D going to set a extra fan see if it improves things.
i suggest getting a big industrila fan like 15 ft tall and putting it on ur wall... ur hair will be messy :D but ur pc will be cold :p i suggest u dont wear big jackets while the fan is on tho... u might get pressed against the wall

Getting hypothermia whilst trying to cool your computer is not a great trade off Audie!
And we all know that women keep their arms crossed across thier chests when they are cold, to hide bits and pieces, so hows Alas supposed to play then?
Now there's a horrible thought I wish I could delete!!!
I'm just passing the torch to you; since I probably won't be here much longer , I'm making sure the guild will never be without a certified jackass to keep everyone entertained
for those that wondered what happend :D placed a new MB a INTEL one so far no more VPU crashes and no more BLEEPS form the MB either, also added a extra cooler it can never hurt. :D
